Tour of the window

What each part of the Ghostex window does.

The window has three parts: the sidebar on the left, your sessions in the middle, and an optional view panel on the right.

Sidebar

Your projects and their sessions. From top to bottom:

• Top row: hide the sidebar, search, the Notifications bell, and the More Options menu (Add Project, Sessions, Import Sessions, Search by Prompt, Agents Hub, All Automations, Mobile & Remote, Join Discord, Send Bug / Feedback, and New Window).
• Computers: Local is this computer. Other computers you connect appear next to it.
• Spaces: icons that group projects together, so you can focus on one set of work at a time (turn Spaces on in Settings > Extensions > Store).
• Projects and sessions: click a session to open it. Colored dots show its state (see below).
• Bottom row: Commands (Quick Access), your account usage meters, and the Settings gear. With Workspaces on, the workspace button sits here too.

Sessions

The middle of the window shows the session you picked. Each session can show a chat or the raw terminal of the same agent. You can split the area to watch several sessions at once. See Sessions.

The header above it shows where you are (project and session name) and, on the right:

• Start: run one of your saved Actions, such as npm run dev (turn Actions on in Settings > Extensions > Store).
• Open: open the project in another app, like your code editor or file manager.
• Commit: git actions such as commit, sync with main, and review.
• ⋯: Ask Ghostex, Tips & Tricks, Resources, Dev servers, Extensions and Customize (see below).
• The last two buttons show or hide the Commands pane (a terminal below your sessions, Cmd+J, or F12 on Windows and Linux) and the view panel.

View panel

Code, Browser, Docs, Kanban and Automate open here, beside your sessions, so your agents stay in view. Drag the divider to resize it. See Views.

The ⋯ menu

The ⋯ button in the header opens small panels that close when you click away:

• Ask Ghostex: sample questions for the help chat.
• Tips & Tricks: Ghostex’s features, one card at a time. Its Setup reopens the first-launch setup.
• Resources: what Ghostex is running, with the CPU and memory of each session. Put sessions or the code editor to sleep from here.
• Dev servers: the development servers running on this computer and your other computers. A new Browser tab shows the same list.
• Extensions: your installed extensions.
• Customize: opens Settings > Extensions > Store, where you can hide any of these.

More than one window

File > New Window (Cmd+Shift+N, Ctrl+Shift+N on Windows and Linux) opens another full Ghostex window, for a second monitor. It’s also in More Options and Quick Access.

• Each window has its own sessions on screen, views, Commands pane and Browser tabs.
• Projects, sessions, settings and hotkeys are shared: a session started in one window shows in every window’s sidebar.
• The same session can be open in two windows at once.
• Cmd+` moves between windows. Every open window comes back after a restart.

Closing a window closes its Commands pane terminals and cancels its Delayed Sends (it asks first). Agent sessions keep running. Closing the last window quits Ghostex.
