Organize the sidebar
Sections, tags, hover buttons, bulk actions, and how Ghostex knows what an agent is doing.
Sections
Each project’s sessions sit in sections you can fold: Pinned, Drafts, Working, Sessions, Parked and Snoozed. A folded heading still shows the colored dots of what’s inside and how many sessions it holds.
- Drag a session onto another section to move it there: onto Pinned to pin it, onto Parked to park it.
- Group working sessions (Settings > General, or Sort & Filter in More Options) moves sessions into a Working section while their agent works, and back when it stops.
- Quick chats and terminals have no project: they sit in the Quick section at the top. From a terminal,
ghostex terminalopens one.
Tags
A session carries one tag at a time. Right-click it and choose Tag As: the built-in Priority, Progress and Type tags, or your own. New Tag at the bottom of that menu opens Settings > General > Sidebar Tags, where you give a tag a name, an icon and a color, reorder tags, hide them, or delete them. The tag filters at the top of the sidebar show only the sessions with a tag.
With Park & Snooze with tags on (the default), parking or snoozing a session first asks for a tag.
Hover buttons
Hovering a session shows a few quick buttons. By default they are Tag, Park, Sleep and Close, behind a chevron. Choose your own in Settings > General > Session Cards (Show Advanced): Rename, Pin, Note, Snooze, Close After Done, Tag, Park, Sleep and Close. Click one to turn it on or off, and drag to reorder.
The Preset row at the top of Settings > General > Sidebar switches many card details at once.
Several sessions at once
Select several sessions, then right-click for Pin Selected, Park Selected, Sleep Selected, Wake Selected, Tag Selected As or Close Selected.
A project’s right-click menu has Sleep Inactive and Close Inactive for its idle sessions, and a session’s Advanced menu has Sleep Below and Close Below for the ones under it. Right-click the Parked heading to sleep or close all of its sessions.
Status dots
| Dot | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Orange | The agent is working. |
| Blue | The agent finished, or needs your permission. |
| Pink | The agent asked you a question you haven’t answered. |
| Red | A model or mode you picked couldn’t be applied, or a program reported a failure. Hover the session to read why. |
Session status from (Settings > General, Show Advanced) chooses how Ghostex knows a session’s state. Ghostex detection (the default) reads each agent’s hooks and screen. Combined also listens to programs that report their own status, like recent Claude Code versions or your own scripts, and Program status only uses those reports alone.
Size and look
- Sidebar Interface Size (Settings > General) scales the whole sidebar.
- Cmd+B hides the sidebar. Hover the window’s left edge to float it back over your work.
- Drag the sidebar’s edge to resize it; double-click it to go back to the default width.
