title: Agents working together
description: Let one agent start, brief and check on other agents.
---

Any agent in Ghostex can start other agents, send them tasks, read their replies, and check their work. For example, Claude Code can plan a feature, hand the tests to Codex, and review what Codex did, without you passing messages back and forth.

## Set it up

1. **Install the skills**

Open **Settings > Integrations** and install **Ghostex CLI** and **Ghostex Agents**. The CLI skill is installed on first launch by default.

2. **Ask an agent to delegate**

In any agent chat, say what you want and who should do it. For example: "Use $ghostex-agents to have Codex write tests for the login page, then review them."

3. **Watch it happen**

The new agent appears in the sidebar like any other session. Open it at any time to see what it's doing or step in.

You can pick the model and effort for each helper agent in the same request, like "use Codex with high effort".

:::tip[Want one agent to run the whole thing?]
An [orchestrator](/workflows/orchestrators) is built for this: you talk only to it, it hands each task to a thread, and Ghostex brings every thread's report and question back to it, so nothing has to be watched.

## What the skill teaches

With **Ghostex Agents**, an agent:

- Gives each helper a task that stands on its own: the goal, the files it owns, what not to touch, and how to prove it's done.
- Checks that the message actually arrived, and asks the helper to send its result back instead of polling it.
- Checks the work itself when it matters, and leaves finished sessions open if you might want to look at them.
- Runs helpers side by side only when they work on different files.
- Ends with a report: which agents it started (agent, model and effort), what each one did, and which sessions are still open.

## Read another session

Ask an agent what was said or decided in another session, like "check what we decided about the sidebar in my other chat". Right-click that session and choose **Copy > Copy Details**, then paste it into your message so the agent knows exactly which one you mean. It searches that session's conversation, even a sleeping one, without waking it.

## Stuck or out of credits

If a helper can't start (no login, a usage limit) or hangs, the agent can see every Claude and Codex account with `ghostex accounts`, move the helper to another account on the same conversation, or restart its agent. It tells you what it did. See [Accounts and limits](/workflows/accounts).

## Other ways to hand off

- **Handoff / Export** (Cmd+Option+E) moves a conversation to another agent with its history.
- In the model picker, choosing a model from another agent hands the conversation off to that agent.
- On the [Kanban board](/views/kanban), **Start work** hands a task to a new agent.

Try "How can I make Claude Code control Codex and other agents?"
